Herts Covid testing sites open during festive period

Coronavirus testing sites across Hertfordshire will be staying open over Christmas and New Year. Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group says regional and local test sites will operate on slightly reduced hours on some public holidays, including Christmas and New Year’s Eve, but will be open as normal on other days. During the festive period the CCG is urging people across the county to get a test at the first sign of symptoms as coronavirus cases continue to rise. Symptoms of the virus include a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.

Watford Hospital under pressure as Herts moves to Tier 4

Watford General Hospital is under severe pressure , a health body has said, as Hertfordshire moves into Tier 4. Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group, (CCG) says the hospital is looking after a large number of coronavirus patients, while West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust - which runs Watford General - has tweeted multiple times that its A&E department is really busy or super busy . Jim McManus, Hertfordshire s director of public health, has also warned the situation in hospitals at the moment is “worse than the first wave” and that the NHS is facing extreme pressure . As of December 18, figures published on the government s coronavirus dashboard showed West Herts trust was looking after 149 Covid patients.
