Ana Maria was born in Brazil to Spanish parents, returning to live in Barcelona when she was five years old. By chance, they moved in just across from the house of the Catalan painter Joan Abelló. This artistic neighbour would go on to mark Ana María’s childhood forever. The artist introduced her to painting and became her mentor. Inspired by this man, she turned to an artistic career, starting with ceramics. She joined the School of Fine Arts, specializing in bronze casting. Meanwhile, the university where she studied organized numerous trips (Florence, Rome, London, New York, Budapest, Prague, Paris), accompanied by Art History teachers. In this edition of the series ‘Mongolian Fine Art Masterpiece’ brought to you by MONTSAME News Agency in cooperation with Mongolian National Art Gallery, we are presenting the artwork, ‘City Centre’ by People’s Artist of Mongolia, Honored Cultural Figure Gombosuren Balbar.
The artwork was painted on a 65x120 cm canvas using oil paint in 1951.
The depiction of the road that nearly takes over the entirety of the initial setting narrowing as it stretches out in the far distance makes the central street of the city seem as if it is endless. The fenced trees and shrubs, and the buildings and structures are symmetrically placed. On this chilly winter morning, the space is filled with the noisy traffic of various vehicle speeding along the street and people rushing to go to their work and school. As a documentation of the state of traffic in the central street of the capital city in the 1950s, some of the items depicted in the work are clearl
