GREEN BAY, WI (WLUK) â The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is asking residents to avoid all burning as fire risk around the state remains very high, and the Brown County Fire Chiefs Association placed the county under a burning ban.
Brown Countyâs burning ban is effective immediately due to the very high fire risk Sunday and will be in place until conditions improve.
The DNR placed every county in the state in the âvery highâ fire danger category on Sunday.
There are 22 total wildfires burning in Wisconsin currently, burning over 200 acres.
One fire in Juneau County is approximately 100 acres, according to the DNR, and is threatening the Necedah Wildlife Refuge Headquarters.

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) Extreme fire risk led to over 150 wildfires breaking out in Wisconsin over the Easter Holiday weekend. Now, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers is declaring a State of Emergency in response to elevated wildfire conditions throughout the state.
Evers today signed Executive Order #110. The order is designed to support and direct all state agencies of the state of Wisconsin to assist as appropriate in wildfire prevention, response and recovery efforts.
The Wisconsin Army National Guard’s helicopters will also be utilized in support of firefighting efforts and support.
The Brown County Fire Chiefs Association has placed the county under a burning ban. Brown County’s burning ban is in place until further notice. The DNR placed every county in the state in the “very high” fire danger category on Sunday.
