PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani will be the country’s new top cop next Tuesday, with the handover ceremony with his predecessor Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador to take place a day before.
Acryl Sani’s appointment as the 13th Inspector-General of Police came following Hamid’s two-year stint on the job.
Congratulating Acryl Sani on the appointment, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said Hamid has reached the age of 63.
“We feel there is a need to find a new IGP who can ensure all the good work done by Hamid and previous IGPs will continue to be carried out by the police force.

Acryl Sani’s appointment at the 13th IGP is to succeed Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador whose contract expires on May 3.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had consented to the appointment on the advice of the prime minister following a recommendation by the Police Commission.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 1 Kepong Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chief has challenged outgoing Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador to contest in the 15th general election for the Larut Parliamentary seat.
Datuk Norizan Ali said if Hamid wanted to interfere with political affairs, it was only fair that he contest for the Larut MP seat against Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, who is the incumbent at the moment.

Acryl replaces Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador, who is set to retire when his contract expires on May 3, after serving two years as police chief.
Acryl’s appointment letter was entrusted by Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin today, with Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, senior officials from the Home Ministry and members of the Police Force Commission (SPP) also present.
