Covid-19: 60 more deaths on Tuesday (May 25)

PUTRAJAYA: Another 60 people in Malaysia have succumbed to Covid-19, the Health Ministry reported on Tuesday (May 25). In his daily Covid-19 updates, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country’s coronavirus death toll is now at 2,369. “Of the 60 deaths, 15 were recorded in Selangor while 10 were in Johor. Sarawak and Kedah have six cases each, Kuala Lumpur has five, Sabah, Penang, Perak and Kelantan have three cases each, Negri Sembilan and Melaka have two cases each, while Pahang and Terengganu have one case each, ” said Dr Noor Hisham. Tuesday’s figure is just one short of the daily record of 61 deaths set on Monday (May 24).

6,509 new cases, with record 61 deaths

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia’s Covid-19 cases remained above the 6,000 mark as the country reported a new daily record for coronavirus deaths. In his daily Covid-19 update, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country logged 6,509 new cases. In the same 24-hour span up to noon yesterday, the country also recorded 61 deaths due to Covid-19. “This takes the country’s cumulative total of cases to 518,600. Malaysia’s Covid-19 death toll is now 2,309, ” said Dr Noor Hisham. The last time the country set a record for number of daily deaths was May 20, with 59 fatalities. “All of the 61 deaths involved Malaysian citizens. Of those, 16 were in Selangor, 11 in Johor, six each in Melaka and Penang, five in Kuala Lumpur, four in Kedah, three each in Sarawak, Negri Sembilan and Pahang, two in Terengganu and one each in Perak and Labuan, ” he said.
