PUTRAJAYA: As Malaysia reported another new daily record for Covid-19 deaths, the Health Ministry has called on the people to exercise self-restraint and to stay at home as much as possible. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said imposing “self-movement control” is vital now as the country is faced with the emergence of “variants of concern” (VOC) within the community. “The Health Ministry is highly concerned about the spread of several VOCs within the community. “The number of daily Covid-19 cases is expected to surge, like what is happening in other countries, because VOCs are linked with a higher infectivity and fatality rate.
