Picture by Hari Anggara KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 Malaysia recorded 4,140 new Covid-19 cases over the last 24-hour period and lost another 44 patients to the disease, setting another record for most deaths in a day. The previous most deadly day for Covid-19 in Malaysia was on May 13, when the country lost 39 patients. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in his official Twitter account also announced that Selangor continues to record the highest number of cases at 1,507, followed by Johor (433) and Kuala Lumpur (398).

This is in comparison to the national infectivity average rate of 1.14, as of yesterday and based on the daily number of cases. In a tweet, he also shared the infectivity rate for the other states in Malaysia, with Terengganu in second place at 1.29.

ICU capacity at breaking point, MOH pleads for Malaysians follow SOP

“Photographs shared by the frontliners who are the nation’s forefront battling the deadly Covid-19 virus. “This is the true situation in the ICU ward at the moment. “All beds in the hospital are almost full and at their maximum capacity, ” the ministry in a Facebook post on Friday night (May 14). The ministry noted that the photographs were taken at Hospital Kajang which has reached its maximum capacity. “It is the same for Hospital Ampang, Selayang, Sungai Buloh and other Covid-19 hospitals. “The situation is already crowded, ” the ministry said. Though facing a dire situation, the ministry said it had not reached the stage where a choice has to be made on whom of the Covid-19 patients is to receive ICU treatment.
