PUTRAJAYA: Over a hundred Covid-19 cases were found linked to a Kuala Lumpur residential area, following a Health Ministry screening exercise at the locality.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the cases were classified as the Jalan Rusa cluster and is based in the Cheras district.
“The community screening exercise was conducted after one resident was found to be Covid-19 positive at the end of November.
“After 1,267 people were screened, a total of 129 positive cases have been confirmed under this cluster, ” said Dr Noor Hisham in a statement yesterday.
The Jalan Rusa cluster is one of the three new clusters announced by the ministry yesterday.

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia’s 1,295 new Covid-19 infections meant that its cumulative number of cases has now exceeded that of China’s.
At a press conference yesterday, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country now has 87,913 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.
The figure has surpassed the 86,770 cumulative cases reported yesterday by China.
The world figures are led by the United States, which has recorded about 17 million cases.
Yesterday, Malaysia saw seven more Covid-19 deaths, bringing the death toll to 429 in the country so far.
Dr Noor Hisham said of the deaths, five were in Sabah and one each in Selangor and Kelantan.

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 16 The Ministry of Health (MOH) will investigate allegation pertaining to falsified Covid-19 test results, as alleged by a private clinic in Rawang, Selangor, recently.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that the MOH will work closely with the police and the Ministry of Human Resources to ensure the issue is resolved.
He said the act of falsifying Covid-19 results was an offence and action could be taken under Act 342 (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988) before using other laws for further action.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 Malaysia saw a dip in new Covid-19 infections with 1,295 cases reported today but with seven more Covid-19 related deaths, said Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Malaysia’s cumulative confirmed Covid-19 cases today stands at 87,913. This has now surpassed the latest figure for Mainland China where the first case was reported in Wuhan province. Its National Health Commission reported 86,770 cumulative cases yesterday.
