KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 16): Malaysia today recorded 1,295 new Covid-19 cases, as Selangor registered the highest number of new infections at 481, according to the Ministry of Health.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 356 cases in Selangor were confirmed from the existing and new Covid-19 clusters as well as screening of close contacts of Covid-19 positive patients. Of this number, 277 cases came from the clusters, while 79 infections were detected from the screening of close contacts.
As the bulk of cases in the most populous state came from clusters, two of them recorded the highest number of infections today, namely the Top Glove-linked Teratai cluster in Klang with 143 new cases and the Usaha cluster, detected in Klang and Petaling, with 79 new cases.

Kuala Lumpur: The three MPs placed under Home Surveillance Order (HSO) have obtained permission from Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah to attend the Dewan Rakyat sitting yesterday.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun said the three MPs, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan and P. Prabakaran (PH-Batu) had written an application letter to Dr Noor Hisham. The director-general of Health had issued a letter to the three lawmakers dated Dec 14 to allow them time off to attend the voting process on Dec 14 to 17 with set conditions.

COVID-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) saw a new norm in the Dewan Rakyat when three Members of Parliament, who are undergoing home quarantine, turned up fully clad in personal protective equipment (PPE) to participate in the voting process.
The three are Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba (BN-Tenggara), Datuk Seri M. Saravanan (BN-Tapah) and P. Prabakaran (PH-Batu), who were seen seated on the highest floor of the House, away from the other MPs.
Dr Adham is Health Minister while Saravanan is Human Resources Minister. Prabakaran is the country’s youngest MP.
They were clad in full white aprons, along with a blue shower cap and a visor.
