Fix logistical issues to contain outbreaks

PETALING JAYA: Logistical challenges must be addressed in order to contain the Covid-19 outbreaks among the migrant workers community, say employers and workers. This comes as a surge of cases is expected from the mandatory screening among foreign workers, especially those at construction sites and factories. The mandatory screening on foreign workers began on Dec 1. Malaysian Employers Federation executive director Datuk Shamsuddin Bardan ( pic) said companies are having to make arrangements with the service providers on how best to get their workers screened. “Employers have to minimise disruption to the operations. They can try to make proper arrangements with the service providers to come to their site to do the screening.

Early Covid-19 treatment important

PETALING JAYA: The Covid-19 vaccine is on the horizon but for now, health experts have asked Malaysians to seek early medical attention to prevent severe complications should they contract the virus. The advice came amid statistics on Friday which showed 42 districts, comprising 72 sub-districts, throughout Malaysia are in the red zone. These included highly populated places such as Kuala Lumpur, Damansara, Cheras, Petaling, Klang, Ipoh, Seremban and Kota Kinabalu. Furthermore, there have been daily deaths as well since Nov 2 till now, except for Dec 4. About 55% of the 300 fatalities recorded from March 17 to Nov 10 involved those who were in Stage 4 when they arrived to the hospital.
