The number of COVID-19 brought-in-dead (BID) cases increased sevenfold from April to June this year, said Health general-director Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The cases of BID increased from 35 to 246 in three months. Most of them were in the 50 to 70 age group (76%), and more than half of them (64.5%) had at least one comorbidity.
Dr Noor Hisham noted that since the pandemic started last year, the country has recorded 5,327 Covid-19 deaths (as of 2 July). 4,856 of those deaths happened this year.
In total, there have been 670 BID (13.8%) cases in 2021.
The states with the highest BID cases this year are Selangor (181), Kuala Lumpur (78) and Sabah (85).
