Covid: 1,219 new cases, 2 deaths reported Wednesday — Health DG

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has recorded 1,219 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths in the past 24 hours, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. He said that during the same period, 1,346 recovered cases were reported, bringing the cumulative number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19 to 310,958, while the total number of deaths now stood at 1,220. “Of the total new cases today, 1,212 are local infections, involving 769 Malaysians and 443 foreigners while another seven are imported cases,” he said in a statement on the development of Covid-19, today. Dr Noor Hisham said that the three states recording the highest number of cases were Selangor with 499 cases, Sarawak (225) and Johor (169).

Confusion over ways to appeal RM10,000 fine

PETALING JAYA: Not only the people are confused over ways to appeal the RM10,000 fine for breaching the standard operating procedures (SOP), but health authorities in different states are also facing the same predicament. State Health Departments said they were not authorised to handle appeals or reduce the fine, according to a report by Sin Chew Daily on Monday (March 15). Checks revealed that they could not ascertain the clear process needed for people to appeal the fine. Petaling Jaya district health officials have advised the people to apply for a permit to travel to the Health Ministry in Putrajaya to file their appeal with its director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 Malaysia today recorded 1,354 new Covid-19 cases, a slight drop from yesterday’s 1,470, and four deaths, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. He said that over the same 24-hour period as at noon today, 1,782 cases had recovered, bringing the cumulative figure for recoveries to 306,274, while the death toll is 1,210. “Of the new cases today, 1,340 are local transmissions involving 1,042 Malaysians and 298 foreigners while 14 are imported cases,” he said in a statement posted on his official Twitter account.
