The newest Sevierville fire station is taking shape on the
downtown Prince Street property. The station is expected to be open
in January 2022, but personnel for the new station are already
being hired.

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. The Sevierville Police Department said that Old Knoxville Highway at Red Cedar Ridge Road was closed Thursday night at around 11 p.m. due to a structure fire.
The intersection is north of Sevierville, surrounded by trees and homes.
Information about the fire, any possible injuries or when the road was expected to reopen was not immediately available.

SEVIERVILLE
A new educational garden is taking shape outside the county’s University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension building, built as part of the Master Gardeners program and featuring Firewise landscaping techniques.
“This is actually kind of two programs combined. The Master Gardeners that are in the training class right now helped design, pick out plants and build this garden, this bed,” said Adam Hopkins, UT Extension director and agent. “This will be a bed specifically demonstrating Firewise plantings, distances away from structures and what are good things to plant in such distances.”

BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. A local group is asking state leaders to save land that could be taken over by an extension of Pellissippi Parkway.
Blount County resident, Susan Keller, is one of nearly a dozen farmers who is fighting to keep her land.
Keller said, Some of these farms have been in these families for more than 100 years.
SEVIERVILLE â The Sevier Animal Care Center could be moving closer to its first permanent home Monday, as the Sevier County Commission will vote on committing $2 million to building it.
The county purchased land near the fairgrounds on Old Knoxville Highway in 2019 with plans for building a permanent home for the animal care center, as well as housing for a work release program for the Sevier County Jail and a new archives facility.
On Monday, commissioners will consider a resolution committing to paying $2 million toward the facility.
âThe design phase is ongoing right now,â Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter said. âThe estimated cost is not to exceed $4 million.â
