SEVIERVILLE â The Sevier Animal Care Center could be moving closer to its first permanent home Monday, as the Sevier County Commission will vote on committing $2 million to building it.
The county purchased land near the fairgrounds on Old Knoxville Highway in 2019 with plans for building a permanent home for the animal care center, as well as housing for a work release program for the Sevier County Jail and a new archives facility.
On Monday, commissioners will consider a resolution committing to paying $2 million toward the facility.
âThe design phase is ongoing right now,â Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter said. âThe estimated cost is not to exceed $4 million.â
