ORR School District reports 68th positive COVID case

Wicked Local MATTAPOISETT - Superintendent Michael S. Nelson, Mattapoisett Town Administrator Michael C. Lorenco and Mattapoisett Board of Health Chair Carmelo Nicolosi report that the Old Rochester Regional School District and Mattapoisett Elementary School District were informed of one positive case of COVID-19 at Center School in Mattapoisett on Dec. 24. This individual has tested positive for the virus and is self-isolating in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention protocol. This individual was last in the school building on Dec. 22. Under state and federal health privacy laws, no further information is available about the individual.

COVID case at Center School in Mattapoisett is 68th for ORR district

Standard-Times MATTAPOISETT Old Rochester Regional School District and Mattapoisett town officials reported Sunday in a press release that they d been informed of one new positive case of COVID-19 at Center School in Mattapoisett on Dec. 24. The individual tested positive for the virus and is self-isolating in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) protocol, according to the release. The individual was last in the school building on Dec. 22. Under state and federal health privacy laws, no further information is available about the individual. Contact tracing is in progress and any close contacts will be notified and followed by the Board of Health, the release said. Close contacts will be expected to quarantine and will be recommended for COVID-19 testing.

Mattapoisett ORR school district passes 60 positive COVID cases Standard-Times MATTAPOISETT  The Old Rochester Regional School District has passed 60 positive cases of COVID-19, as one new case at the junior high school and two at the high school were reported in a news release from town officials. The positive cases were the 60th, 61st, and 62nd involving individuals in the school district since schools reopened on September 16th, reported Superintendent Michael S. Nelson, Town Administrator Michael C. Lorenco and Board of Health Chair Carmelo Nicolosi. All schools will continue with their normal schedules at the recommendation of the board of health. Deep cleaning of all schools will continue to be conducted each night. High touch surfaces are and will continue to be cleaned frequently and as needed throughout the day while the buildings are occupied. Sanitizing wipes remain available in each classroom to wipe down desks when necessary, the news release said.

Five new cases announced in ORR district

Dec 22, 2020 The school district has now seen 67 total confirmed covid cases. The Old Rochester Regional School District announced five new covid cases between ORRHS, the Junior High, Center School and Rochester Memorial School on Dec. 22. Two of the cases came from ORRHS, and one each came from the Junior High, Center School and Rochester Memorial.  Contact tracing for the cases is ongoing. Close contacts will be notified by their respective Boards of Health and are expected to quarantine.  The positive individuals at ORRHS were last in the building on Dec. 10 and 18. The positive person from the Junior High was last in the building on Dec. 11. The positive person from Rochester Memorial was last in school on Dec. 11. The positive person from Center School was last in the building on Dec. 10.

Over 60 covid cases now reported in schools since opening

Dec 21, 2020 MATTAPOISETT There have now been 62 covid-19 cases in the Old Rochester Regional School District since classes started on Sept. 16, as two new cases in the high school and one new case in the junior high were announced on Dec. 21. In a press release, district officials said the individuals were last in the school building on Dec. 11 (high school case), Dec. 15 (junior high school case), and Dec. 18 (high school case). The district did not specify whether those who tested positive are students, faculty or staff members. Any close contacts, or those who came within six feet of the positive cases for more than 15 minutes over a 24-hour period, will be notified and followed by the town’s Board of Health.
