A 26-year-old Paterson man was stabbed dead during a group brawl before dawn Sunday, authorities said.
Police conducted CPR after finding Luis Ramirez stabbed, unconscious and bleeding on the ground next to a parked vehicle in front of a three-story brick walkup on Park Avenue off East 22nd Street shortly before 12:30 a.m., responders said.
Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene soon after, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora said in a noontime release.
They didn’t say whether any suspects had been identified or arrested.

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Pompton Lakes Police Chief Derek Clark announce that on Friday, January 29, 2021, at approximately 9:04 p.m., police officers responded to Pompton Lakes High School to conduct a welfare check regarding a school employee. Upon their arrival, the officers searched the building and discovered the body of Patrick Moccia, 47 years old from Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Mr. Moccia was a teacher at the school, and his death is believed to be the result of an apparent suicide. An autopsy will be conducted by the New Jersey Medical Examiner’s Office at a later date. This investigation is active and ongoing. More information will be released when it becomes available.
N.J. man in critical condition after shooting

A Passaic County man was in critical condition after being shot Friday night in Paterson, officials said.
Just before 9 p.m. Friday, Paterson police officers responded to 9th Avenue and Madison Avenue in the city for a reported robbery, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said in a statement. When officers arrived, they found a 31-year-old city man suffering from a non-fatal gunshot wound, according to the statement.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, and is in critical condition as of late Saturday morning, according to the statement.
POMPTON LAKES A teacher was found dead of an apparent suicide Friday night at Pompton Lakes High School.
Police went to check on a school employee around 9:04 p.m. Friday, according to a statement by Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Pompton Lakes Police Chief Derek Clark.
While searching the building, officers discovered the body of Patrick Moccia, 47, of Doylestown. Moccia is survived by his wife, two children and two stepchildren, according to Superintendent Paul Amoroso in a letter to the school community. We ask that you keep Mr. Moccia and his family in your thoughts and prayers, said Amoroso.

A 23-year-old Saddle Brook man told police he was carjacked at gunpoint in Passaic late Thursday.
The victim said he was assaulted by more than one person as he got out of the car near the corner of River Drive and Westervelt Place shortly after 11 p.m.
The robbers took his keys and fled with the vehicle, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Passaic Police Chief Luis A. Guzman said in a brief release Friday.
They didn’t identify the type of vehicle, direction of flight, how many suspects were believed involved or what any of them looked like, saying: More information will be released once it becomes available.
