BAGUIO CITY – A call center agent was killed while her two relatives were injured when a pine tree fell on the taxi they were riding in Camp 8, Kennon Road here Friday, July 23.
Baguio City Police Office director Police Col. Glen Lonogan identified the fatality as Esmerelda Suriaga, 39, and the injured as Esmeralda’s relatives Samuel Suriaga, 29, and Wilfredo Suriaga, 63.
Lonogan said Esmerelda was declared dead on arrival at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center.
Samuel is now recuperating in the hospital while Wilfredo was discharged.
The taxi driver, Mizon Arucan Galano, 33, was unharmed.
Police said the victims were onboard a Mitsubishi Adventure taxi with trade name Ar-Anne and license plates AYU-713 enroute to the city proper from Camp 7 at about 3:15 p.m. when a falling tree pinned the vehicle.
July 13, 2021 BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Benjamin Magalong on Monday said the Philippine National Police (PNP) has agreed to temporarily put on hold training at the police regional training school here to control the continued spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among policemen.
Magalong said PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar has agreed to the city’s position to temporarily hold all face-to-face training of policemen at the Cordillera Administrative Region Training Center (CARTC) in Teachers Camp.
The mayor said the city detected new Covid-19 positive patients among the trainees thus the need to discontinue said activities.
The City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (CESU) found that 26 more trainees turned Covid-19 positive from June 28 to July 11.
