Poverty alleviation could be successful if middlemen between the producer and consumer could be eliminated, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said in Colombo yesterday. Khan was addressing the delegates at the Pakistan Sri Lanka Trade and Investment Conference in Colombo in the presence of Sri Lankan Premier Mahinda Rajapaksa, Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardena and former Central Bank Governor and State Minister of Finance, Capital Markets and State Enterprise Reforms, Ajith Nivard Cabraal. A total of 39 business delegates from Pakistan took part in the forum along with local delegates who were also of the equal number. During his talks with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday, Khan said that both parties felt the need to alleviate poverty from the two countries.
