Pakistan to open diplomatic mission in Djibouti Sana Jamal, Correspondent Islamabad: Pakistan has announced to establish its resident diplomatic mission in Djibouti. The declaration was shared after Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s meeting with a 12-member parliamentary delegation of the African Union. The delegation was led by President National Assembly of Republic of Djibouti, Mohamed Ali Houmed, according to the official statement. The two sides declared the desire to broaden bilateral cooperation in diverse fields. The visit is seen as an important development as part of Pakistan’s “Engage Africa” policy, which aims at forging closer ties with the continent by expanding Islamabad’s diplomatic footprint and deepening economic engagement.

The country s economic experts believed that despite the testing times, the national economy is heading towards the right direction as the government s extensive measures have helped it move progressively on the adjustment path in a stabilization process, reports Xinhua news agency. According to a recently released Asian Development Bank (ADB) report on development outlook, Pakistan s economy has been getting better despite the persistent challenge of COVID-19.

  Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood said last Monday that a boost in trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan would maximize the chances of regional economic integration and enhance connectivity among neighboring countries.   “In the recent trade dialogue, Pakistan and Afghanistan mainly focused on transit and bilateral trade issues through the agenda of shared prosperity and peace,” Dawood said while addressing the opening session of the 8th round of Afghanistan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA) with Afghan Minister for Commerce and Industry Nisar Ahmad Faizi Ghoryani.   He said connectivity with Central Asian states, regional trade with Gwadar Port, finalization of the APTTA, and Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) with Afghanistan were among the main agendas of the negotiation.
