Pakistani PM embarks on two-day Sri Lanka visit - World News

A statement from the prime minister office said that Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Commerce, Textile, Industry and Production, and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari are accompanying the prime minister. This is Khan s first visit to Sri Lanka after assuming office in August 2018, according to the statement.

The Foreign Ministry of Pakistan said in a statement that both Pakistan and Russia have convergence of views on matters of mutual interest including an inclusive political settlement of the conflict in Afghanistan . Pakistani foreign minister reiterated that his country s support to the Afghan peace process, Qureshi highlighted Pakistan s facilitation of the U.S.-Taliban Peace Agreement and subsequent commencement of Intra-Afghan Negotiations, the statement said.

Prime Minister Imran Khan to visit Sri Lanka

Prime Minister Imran Khan will be the first Head of Government to visit Sri Lanka after President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa assumed office last year. The Prime Minister will visit Sri Lanka on February 23 and 24. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement confirming the visit of the Prime Minister saying that bilateral talks would cover issues of trade and investment, health and education, agriculture and science and technology, defence and security, and culture and tourism. Key regional and international issues would also be discussed.
