Cement sales expand 20% in FY21
Construction package, progress on Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme aid growth
LAHORE:
The cement sector reported a robust sales growth of 20.12% in fiscal year 2020-21 mainly on the back of normalisation of construction activities due to a relief package announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan coupled with progress on the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme.
In addition, substantial funds allocation for construction in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) also aided expansion of the sector.
According to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) on Friday, total sales of cement came in at 57.4 million tons during the just-ended fiscal year against 47.812 million tons in fiscal year 2019-20.
Pakistan records highest cement sales since 1990
