LAHORE: The ventilators’ occupancy ratio amidst the third wave of Covid in the provincial capital dropped from 95pc to 85.4pc here on Friday.
However, the city witnessed another sharp increase of infectivity rate of the virus that was reported 28 per cent during the last 24 hours.
According to the official figures released on Friday, the virus claimed lives of 83 more critical patients in Punjab. Thirty people lost their lives in Lahore. The Covid death toll reached 8,410 in Punjab.
The data further showed that the total number of the infections in Punjab reached 301,114 after 2,296 more people tested positive for the virus. Of the new infections, 1,086 were recorded in Lahore where the number of positive cases reached 159,175.

LAHORE: With record 107 Covid deaths in a day in Punjab, mismanagement at the understaffed vaccination centres in the province is adding to the woes of the elderly people.
A majority of the centres are understaffed and heavily crowded with people of 50 to 69 years of age.
The situation is disturbing at three mega centres of Lahore – Expo Centre Johar Town, Minar-i-Pakistan and the Pakistan Institute of Kidney and Liver Institute – creating potential risk of spreading the virus.

Similarly, all the ventilators of Services Hospital, Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital, and Pakistan Institute of Kidney and Liver Transplant (PKLI) have been occupied by the Covid patients.
