ISLAMABAD: Healthcare workers on Monday closed vaccination centers and outpatient departments of the public health facilities in the federal capital in protest against nonpayment of health risk allowance.
When contacted, Grand Health Alliance Chairman Dr Asfandyar Khan confirmed to
Dawn that the employees had decided to keep the vaccination centres closed till the resolution of allowance issue.
“Employees are also demanding that the Secretary NHS Amer Ashraf Khuwaja should be removed as funds for the allowance lapsed because of him,” he said.
Dr Asfandyar said over all Rs900 million, including Rs480 million allocated for the allowance, lapsed as Ministry of NHS failed to utilise them.

Islamabad : Responding to the call of the Grand Health Alliance, health workers of all federal government hospitals observed complete strike on Monday, boycotting their respective Out-Patient Departments to protest against the inordinate delay in release of the special health allowance announced by the government almost a year ago when the Covid-19 pandemic infiltrated into Pakistan.
Condemning the “inappropriate and wilful attitude” of the Secretary and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of National Health Services, who are now seen as the major stumbling blocks impeding implementation of the government’s directive, the protesting health workers strongly demanded the removal of both officials.

Islamabad : The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), which was designated as the primary site for treatment and facilitation of corona infection patients in Islamabad Capital Territory, hosted a colourful ceremony here Saturday to honour the extraordinary contribution of its teams ever since the start of the pandemic in February 2020.

Token strike at PIMS from today if workers’ demands not met

Islamabad : Effective July 12, a three-hour token strike will be observed at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), leading to suspension of services in the Out-Patient Department and Vaccination Center of the hospital.
A decision to this effect was announced during a meeting of the Federal Grand Health Alliance (FGHA) here Saturday. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Asfandyar Khan and attended by representatives of the Young Consultants Association, Young Doctors Association, Nursing Association, Officers Association, Paramedical Staff Association, and Non-Gazetted Employees Association, all of whom expressed absolute confidence in the leadership of FGHA.
