PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Thursday declared that the ban on cattle and poultry transportation to Afghanistan would continue until their supply and prices normalised in the local market.
A bench consisting of Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan and Justice Mohammad Nasir Mahfooz also ordered the inspector general of the Frontier Corps to cooperate with the Pakistan Customs for checking the cattle and poultry smuggling to the neighbouring country.

The inflation rate remained in double digits for the second successive month and stood at 10.9% in May due to increase in energy and food prices amid low chances of any respite because of recent hike in electricity prices.
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported on Tuesday that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose to 10.9% in May over the same month a year ago. The 10.9% inflation rate is higher than up to 9.8% projection given by the Ministry of Finance last week. The inflation bulletin has been released three days after the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) decided to maintain the policy rate at 7%.
CCP raids poultry association office on suspected cartelisation

ISLAMABAD: Anti-trust watchdog Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) conducted raids on Pakistan Poultry Associationâs (PPA) office and another business premises for their suspected involvement in cartelisation and anti-competitive activities, the commission said on Tuesday.
The inspection was conducted after the CCP took notice of drastic increase in the prices of various poultry products.
Two different teams of CCP entered and searched the premises of PPA and the poultry business and impounded print and electronic records, including minutes of the meetings of PPA, âwhich may provide evidence about the price-fixing of day-old chick, broiler, and eggsâ.
