Punjab [Pakistan], May 12 (ANI): Electric fan manufacturers in Gujranwala city of Punjab province, urged the government to impose a duty on the export of scrap to China and sought a reduction in the regulatory duty on electrical steel sheet imports as the industry battles with expensive inputs and loss in sales amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Dawn, increasing prices of basic raw materials needed for the production of electrical fans have significantly raised the costs of the manufacturers and brought upward pressure on retail market rates across the country.

GUJRAT: Electric fan manufacturers on Tuesday urged the government to impose duty on the export of scrap to China and sought reduction in the regulatory duty on electrical steel sheet imports as the industry battles with expensive inputs and loss in sales amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Increasing prices of basic raw materials needed for the production of electrical fans have significantly raised the costs of the manufacturers and brought upward pressure on retail market rates across the country.
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Commerce plans to constitute a Fan Export Council (FEC) for developing a long-term vision for the industry in the country, Adviser to PM on Commerce Razak Dawood told representatives of the Pakistan Electric Fan Manufacturers Association (Pefma) in a meeting held on Friday.
The meeting was also attended by the commerce ministry officials. An official announcement issued after the meeting said the adviser requested the Pefma representatives to recommend professional experts for the council. The FEC will include all related stakeholders and develop a long-term vision for the industry.
During the meeting, the Pefma representatives highlighted their concerns on continued loss of competiveness in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
