ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The crushing defeat inflicted by the government’s candidates on their rivals Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) nominees for the top slots of Senate on Friday put a question mark on the future of the already fragile opposition alliance.
The PDM, a group of 11 political parties, was formed on September 20, 2020 on one-point agenda to replace the Imran Khan government as it is nothing with the public issues.
The PDM is a ‘Marriage of Convenience’ because all the allied parties belong to different political ideologies and having nothing in common but they have joined hands since Prime Minister Imran Khan is their sole target to get rid of.
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday rescheduled the by-election on a National Assembly seat in Daska for April 10. Earlier, March 18 was set for re-polling in NA-75 constituency.
A statement issued by the ECP on Wednesday said the decision had been taken to make the process of re-polling more transparent and foolproof.
The decision came after the Punjab government informed the ECP that all district and divisional officers had been suspended or transferred and new officers would require some time to understand the administrative situation and keep it under complete control.
The ECP ordered immediate appointment of officers against all vacant administrative posts and fixed April 10 as the new date for re-polling.

LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: The opposition leaders and the ministers Sunday continued trading barbs and pointed allegations against each other on the issues of prime minister’s vote of confidence and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists’ alleged attack on the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leaders in the Capital on Saturday.
Opposition leaders challenged the number of votes cast in favour of the prime minister, saying agencies’ help was sought to ‘rope in’ the ruling alliance’s parliamentarians for getting their votes. The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders alleged coercion in the NA voting process, while the PML-N leaders warned of tit-for-tat response in case of any physical attack on the party activists in future.
