Chemists, druggists to go on countrywide strike from July 15 July 10, 2021 Rawalpindi : Under the umbrella of All Pakistan Pharma Movement (APPM), chemists and druggists have decided to go on strike on July 15 (Thursday) throughout Pakistan to record protest against the federal government’s decision of imposition of new taxes on life-saving drugs. In a meeting of chemists and druggists hailing from all across Pakistan, the organizers including APPM, Pakistan Chemists’ and Druggists’ Association (PCDA) and Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association has decided to launch a national level movement against the government’s decision of imposing advance tax in pharma sector. Chemists stage protest in Peshawar July 1, 2021 PESHAWAR: Pakistan Chemist and Druggist Association, Peshawar chapter, on Wednesday staged protest against the government decision to impose new taxes in the budget. Talking to The News, Chemist and Druggist Association president Fayyaz Dawar said that the government’s flawed policies had affected their businesses and now they were forced to close their businesses. He said that imposition of the new taxes would force them to close the businesses. He added that several retail businesses had already laid off their staff as the businesses had been in decline for the last couple of years.Fayyaz Dawar said that the government had asked distributors to collect taxes for them from the retailers, adding that the ultimate burden would fall on the general public as the retailers had been asked to get that tax from the public. App launched for tracing TB cases

App launched for tracing TB cases Peshawar April 13, 2021 Rawalpindi:Government of Punjab is determined to eliminate TB from the province, said Dr. Muhammad Saeed Akhtar, manager Punjab Tuberculosis Control Programme, says a press release. He was addressing a stakeholders’ orientation meeting to launch the detection of TB cases in the Rawalpindi district through private pharmacies where off-the-counter sale of TB drugs is in process with the help of Pakistan’s first mobile application (eTB). The intervention followed orders from the provincial government for mandatory notification of TB drug sale and imposing a ban on over-the-counter sale of TB drugs. Meanwhile, the Provincial TB Control Programme, Punjab in collaboration with DOPASI Foundation through the support of Stop TB Partnership’s TB REACH Initiative have developed a mobile application ‘eTB’ to support the private pharmacies in notifying the sale of anti-TB drugs to the TB Control Authorities.
