Tourism suffering a lot during COVID-19

Islamabad May 9, 2021 Islamabad : All Pakistan Hotels, Guest Houses and Tourism Association President Gulraiz Khattak and Chairman Tahir Oryazai have expressed their concerns over the government’s decision to ban all tourist destinations, saying that over the last one year hotel industry has been in a state of collapse due to COVID-19, says a press release. The closure of tourist destinations has also taken a toll on the hotel industry. In a statement, they said, “We have incurred huge financial losses to control the corona epidemic. Therefore, the government should also announce a relief package for the hotel industry.” Expressing satisfaction over the treatment facilities available for corona patients, Gulraiz Khattak and Tahir Oryazai said that it is frightening to see corona’s condition in India and the strategy of the government of Pakistan in these circumstances is commendable.

Hoteliers vow to resist lockdown National May 4, 2021 PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Hotels and Restaurants Association has decided to resist the imposition of the lockdown from May 8. The decision came at a meeting attended by Khalid Ayub, Habibullah Zahid and others. Terming the government decision to impose a lockdown from May 8 to 16th as economic murder of the business community, they sought permission to continue business while following the SOPs. They expressed concern over the government’s decision on closing the tourism spots on Eidul Fitr in the name of coronavirus pandemic, saying the government should prepare a plan to revive business instead of creating problems for businessmen. Tourism, they said, was the only industry in KP that generated revenue and attracted hordes of local and foreign tourists to the scenic places.

Restaurant owners threaten protest - Newspaper

ISLAMABAD: All Pakistan Hotels and Restaurants Association on Saturday threatened to launch countrywide protest if the government did not allow restaurants to dine in and make their business fully functional by following the SOPs. In a virtual session of the action committee of the association presided over by its chairman Mumtaz Ahmad, the meeting expressed serious concern over the government’s decision to continue ban on dine in facility at restaurants till Feb 28. The action committee said if other businesses were allowed to operate, it would be unjust and cruel on part of the government to keep the ban on dine in facility at restaurants.
