MH man picks up new child sex charge

A 35-year-old Mountain Home man, initially charged with soliciting sex online from what he believed was a 14-year-old Missouri boy, has had a new charge filed against him. Adam Michael Johnson appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday and entered a not guilty plea to the new allegations. He had pled not guilty to his initial charges on March 11. The new accusations stemmed from a search of Johnson’s cellphone seized by law officers after his first arrest. During that search, according to the probable cause affidavit in the newly opened case, a number of images of prepubescent males were found.

Man charged with having inappropriate sexual contact with teenage female has died

A 63-year-old Jonesboro man accused of having sex with a 15-year-old female has died. Jerry Donald Busch was due to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday. As Busch’s name was called, Prosecutor David Ethredge told the court he had been informed by a law enforcement agency in another county earlier in the day that Busch had been found dead. Ethredge said from the report he had gotten, Busch died of natural causes. Busch’s attorney, Randel Miller of Jonesboro, had come to Mountain Home to stand in with his client for his appearance Thursday. The attorney confirmed the information Ethredge had received.

Woman who used vehicle as battering ram pleads not guilty to charges

PHOTO: Shannon Marie Langevin A Louisiana woman charged with purposely smashing her car into a home and endangering a number of relatives, including her own grandchildren, appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday. Forty-nine-year-old Shannon Marie Langevin of Prairieville, Louisiana entered a not guilty plea to the charges against her. Langevin was reported to have come to the residence, a vacation rental along Larkspur Lane, on April 7 in what was described as an agitated and highly intoxicated state. She is alleged to have attempted to take two of her small grandchildren out of the house with the reported intention of leaving with them.

Man released from state prison heads right back to jail for nearly five year old charges

Photo: Mac Ryan Chitwood A man from Lonoke, who was released from the Arkansas Department of Corrections’ Varner Supermax facility in Gould Monday, was arrested upon his release by Baxter County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges from nearly five years ago. Thirty-one-year-old Mac Ryan Chitwood, who has a lengthy criminal record in the state, is also wanted on charges in Sharp and White counties. He just finished serving over four and a half years of a ten year sentence from Izard and Sharp counties for commercial burglary, battery, breaking and entering, theft of property and criminal mischief. It was his second time in the state prison system.
