One of the two men charged with the June 2019 murder of 20-year-old Tyler Wade Pickett of Mountain Home appeared in Baxter County Court Thursday.
Twenty-seven-year-old James Edward Tyler Davis of Norfork and 38-year-old Jeffery Scott Shepherd of Mountain Home were both charged with first-degree murder and battery in connection with Pickett’s death.

Davis appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court by way of a video hookup from the Varner Unit of the state prison system.
He is serving time there on a conviction from Benton County not related to Pickett’s murder.

Ryan Eberley and Alexandra Neel appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court on Thursday and entered not guilty pleas to charges related to their toddler son testing positive for methamphetamine.
Eberley and Neel, both 27, face charges of introducing a controlled substance into the body of another and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. The Introduction of a controlled substance into the body of another charge is a Class Y felony punishable by 10-40 years or life in prison.
Following their arrests, they were taken to the Baxter County Jail and held in lieu of $50,000 bonds.
Both informed Circuit Court Judge John Putman that they would be seeking the services of the public defender. Both also have a previous conviction in Baxter County for methamphetamine possession, according to court records.

Stephen Burkhart of Mountain Home pled guilty to drug-related charges on Oct. 29 last year and was sentenced to 36 months probation.
The 32-year-old Burkhart violated his probation just 31 days later by picking up a new felony arrest for allegedly breaking into a number of storage units.
He appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and entered a guilty plea to seven counts of breaking or entering stemming from the storage unit break-ins.
Burkhart was sentenced to six years in prison and ordered to pay almost $2,200 in victim restitution.
The revocation petition in the earlier drug case was dismissed by the state.
