MH woman convicted of allowing child abuse has appeal denied

    The Arkansas Court of Appeals has turned down the post conviction relief sought by a Mountain Home woman convicted in a child abuse case Thirty-four-year-old Alyssia Kirby-Snow was found guilty by a Baxter County Circuit Court jury in early February 2018 of permitting child abuse and endangering the welfare of a minor. The jury acquitted her of first-degree battery. She was sentenced to 26 years in prison for her alleged involvement in actions that left her then 3-week-old son seriously injured. Kirby-Snow was represented in her appeal by Little Rock attorney Charles Hancock. Hancock asked the court of appeals to reverse and dismiss the verdicts against his client or, alternatively, to send the case back to Baxter County Circuit Court for a new trial.

Man who allegedly fought MHPD officer appears in court

Photo: Luke Alexander Dennis A man alleged to have fought with a Mountain Home police officer trying to arrest him appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court earlier this month. Thirty-three-year-old Luke Alexander Dennis of Mountain Home entered a not guilty plea to charges of resisting arrest, second-degree battery, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, driving while intoxicated and refusal to take tests to determine his blood/alcohol level. The officer reported pulling up behind a pickup truck about 11 a.m. on Dec. 1. The truck’s license plate expired in 2016. After the office activated his emergency lights, the vehicle, which was driven by Dennis, pulled into a parking lot.

MH man due for trial on old charges rearrested on new allegations

Photo: Ryan Amyx Even before a Mountain Home man could go on trial for breaking into a retail establishment and taking thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, he was rearrested and charged with other crimes.Thirty-three-year-old Ryan Amyx made an appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court earlier this month and entered a plea of not guilty to his newest charge. He was ordered to reappear in July. In the older case, Amyx was allegedly caught on surveillance cameras both inside and outside the business, located on U.S. Highway 62/412 East in mid-September 2018. At one point, the person who broke into the store could be seen attempting to hide himself by crouching behind a display counter, as the sliding door was opened and trays of jewelry removed. He was also seen taking money from the cash register.

BC man pleads no contest in endangering welfare of minor case

Photo: Randall E. King The biological father of a 5-month-old baby suspected of being a victim of child abuse appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court earlier this month. Thirty-six-year-old Randall E. King of rural Mountain Home entered a no contest plea to charges of endangering the welfare of a minor in the first degree. He was placed on four years probation. The mother of the child, 35-year-old Desiree Marie Daniels, is due to appear in circuit court on Jan. 14. The two children in the family, the victim and his older sister, were in foster care as late as last month. The Office of Child Support Enforcement has brought suit against Daniels seeking support for the children.

Cotter man s probation revoked

Photo: Dustin Blair A Cotter man who pled guilty to charges that he pointed a handgun at family members and threatened to kill them in May 2018 had his probation revoked during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court earlier this month. Thirty-eight-year-old Dustin Blair was put on probation for the 2018 crime but violated the terms and conditions of that probation in a number of ways, including several alcohol-related infractions, according to court records. He will now be on probation for six years. According to the probable cause affidavit filed in the 2018 case, Cotter police responded to a residence along Sunset Drive where a domestic dispute involving a handgun had been reported.
