The FARSP is administered for the U.S. Department of State by the Council for the International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), a division of the Institute of International Education.
PROGRAM INFORMATION:
Two categories of grants are offered in the FARSP: (1) research grants; and (2) program and curriculum development grants.
Research Grants:
Awards of 3 to 9 months are offered for university faculty or research institute professionals to conduct research in any academic discipline at a U.S. academic or research institution beginning no earlier than August 2022 and no later than March 2023.

A new cycle of grants from the Migrations initiative seeks to support work in migrations-related research, pedagogy and engagement with a specific focus on racism and dispossession.
The Migrations initiative, part of Global Cornell, studies how all living things – humans, animals, insects, microorganisms, plant life – move, and the context in which they move. The initiative cultivates collaborations that advance science, scholarship, teaching, outreach and engagement in ways that generate new insights into critical world problems.
In this round of funding, the Mellon Foundation Just Futures award supports projects centered around the connections between racism, dispossession and migration in interdisciplinary, innovative, and impactful ways. The Migrations initiative will also support work that highlights multispecies migrations and the natural and built environments through which they pass. These funding focus areas are reflected in four opportunities:
2022 Fulbright Research Awards for African Scholars
The U.S. Mission is accepting applications for the 2022 Fulbright African Research Scholar Program- deadline May 7, 2021. This award funds African university faculty, administrators, and research institute professionals to conduct postdoctoral research or curriculum development and research at a U.S. academic or research institution. Programs involving dissertation research or general professional travel are not eligible. Curriculum development grants contribute to the development of new courses, curricula, or programs upon the participant’s return to her/his home institution.
Applications are accepted for either:
Research Grants (
awards of three to nine months’ duration).
Applicants should have a productive scholarly record and a specific project statement directly related to their on-going teaching and/or research responsibilities. Funding is normally for one term /semester of about four months. Longer grants may be poss
