APD: Officers struck by intoxicated driver, hospitalized

AGN Media The Amarillo Police Department said two officers were hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by an intoxicated driver on Friday morning.  Per an APD media release, on Jan. 1 at approximately 2:59 a.m., officers were blocking the westbound lanes of Amarillo Boulevard at Madison for a structure fire - noting two marked patrol units were being used to block the roadway.  According to the release, a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Angelo Ramos, 34, struck the first marked car on the driver s side, which caused the vehicle to be pushed into the Police Ford Explorer marked patrol unit. Authorities indicated each of the police vehicles were occupied by a single officer.

APD: Homicide suspect in custody AGN Media Amarillo police have arrested a suspect in connection with the city s first homicide of 2021. Per an APD media release, on Jan. 1 a warrant was issued on Dustin Scott Harrison, 28, for the murder of Orlando Kilgore, 29.  Police previously indicated a Friday morning shooting in the 2600 block of Dumas Drive at the Hamlet Shopping Center resulted in multiple victims - with four victims being taken to area hospitals. Authorities noted Kilgore was declared dead at the hospital. The APD indicated Harrison was arrested driving up to his residence, interviewed and later booked into the Potter County Detention Center. 

APD: CIRT aids warrant surrender

AGN Media Amarillo police said on Friday the department s Critical Incident Response Team aided in removing a man from a home who was wanted for a felony warrant. Per an APD media release, at 8 p.m. Friday, the CIRT was called to the 2000 block of Walker Drive regarding a man, identified as Timothy Jeffries, 28, who was wanted for a warrant and refused to exit the residence.  According to the media release, officers had been to the location earlier in the day and knew Jeffries had a felony warrant but did not locate him at that time. Officers were dispatched again at 4:55 p.m., per police, on another disturbance involving Jeffries.

The Amarillo Police Department says felony warrant suspect Timothy Jeffries, 28, was located and taken into custody. The standoff took place at a residence near 24th and Walker. After a few hours of negotiations, the suspect reportedly surrendered without incident. He was booked into the Potter County Detention Center for his two warrants, injury to a child, reckless injury and assault causing bodily injury.

Police say at about 2:59 a.m. two officers were blocking the westbound lanes of Amarillo Boulevard at Madison Street for a structure fire. Two police vehicles were being used to block the roadway. A 1998 Chevrolet Blazer was traveling west on the boulevard when it struck the first police car on the driver’s side.
