NORRIS Many trails 87 miles total make up the Norris Lake Area Trail System (NATS) around Norris Lake.
They will give hikers and and, in some places, cyclists or horseback riders a variety of different paths to explore through woods, up hills and around the shores of Norris Lake. The trails are within 15 miles of each other, an official website for the system stated.
All are free and open to the public, a news release stated.
On Friday, April 9, officials from the TVA and the involved parks and counties cut a ribbon announcing the trail system, attracting reporters from various media outlets. They met at Norris Dam State Park’s Picnic Shelter One on the east side of the park near the Tea Room in the older portion of the park. From the nature center’s pavilion, follow the short sidewalk down to two bridges. Take the one trending south, with dirt on the other side rather than concrete.
