University Heights broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning thanks in part to a two run single by Ty Hunt and defeated Webster County 9-4. Seth Hancock and winning pitcher Luke Welch had three hits to lead the Blazers. Welch also struck out 10 batters in 6 2/3 innings. The Blazers improved to 6-14 with the win.
Hopkinsville fell to Logan County 10-7. Logan Durst went 3-3 with a double and four RBI with Preston Chadouin, Ryan Myers and Landon Snyder adding two hits each in defeat. The Tigers had 14 hits in all. Starting pitcher Jacob Dilday took the loss as the Tigers fell to 11-4.

The third round of teams include Trigg County, Warren Central, Apollo Union County, Paducah Tilghman and Bullitt East. We know the ins and outs of Louisville’s stagnant offense this past season:
1. With only two effective guards playing the vast majority of minutes, the Cardinals didn’t feel confident running their transition offense as much off defensive rebounds and turnovers out of fear of fatiguing David Johnson and Carlik Jones. Louisville ranked 300th in the nation in adjusted tempo, according to KenPom. This pained Chris Mack, whose best Xavier teams ranked 32nd and 62nd in the nation in adjusted tempo.

Christian County’s Lady Colonels defeated Fort Campbell 10-0 in three innings Thursday. The Lady Colonels improved to 13-4 overall, and 1-0 in the district . Fort Campbell falls to 2-10 and 0-2 in district play.
