Provisions of Kayden s Law in Pennsylvania added to a federal domestic violence bill passed the House on Wednesday in a 244-172 vote.
The state family court reform law spurred by the 2018 killing of then 7-year-old Kayden Mancuso, of Lower Makefield, was added to the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2021 by U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-1, of Middletown.
The bill introduced by Fitzpatrick, of Middletown, Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., renews the Violence Against Women Act of 1994 that expired two years ago.
The renewed legislation extends support and grants to groups working on issues related to domestic violence, sexual assault and prevention. It also enhances and expands victim services and improves housing access for victims and survivors, according to Nadler s office.
