Will masks be required at St Cloud area graduation ceremonies?

View Comments ST. CLOUD Schools across the state have been planning for in-person graduation events this year after 2020 graduations were forced to be socially-distanced in the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many districts said they would wait to see if state COVID-19 restrictions would change before finalizing their graduation plans  and they did. On May 14, Gov. Tim Walz signed an executive order to lift the statewide mask mandate. The order does not change the state s Safe Learning Plan which requires students and adults in public schools to wear face coverings in school for the rest of the 2020-21 school year. It does allow districts and businesses to require masks at events if they choose.

Schwiebert says the biggest question they have now is what do the latest rollbacks mean for students attending summer school. The governor made it very clear our Safe Learning Plan remains in effect until the last contract day with our teachers. Our teacher s contracts end June 4th and June 7th is when we start summer school. So we are hoping the state will give us some more guidance on summer school.

DTA Will Still Require Masks On Buses and In Transit Hubs

DTA Will Still Require Masks On Buses and In Transit Hubs The recent announcement from Minnesota Governor Tim Walz regarding the ending of the face covering requirement was an encouraging sign in the fight against COVID-19. However, private businesses and local municipalities may still put in place face covering requirements. One such business in Duluth that will still require face coverings is the Duluth Transit Authority. The DTA announced to the public Friday that despite the change in guidance from the Centers For Disease Control, they are still requiring masks on all buses and in transit hubs. This policy applies to all passengers, including those who are fully vaccinated.
