The European Union (EU) and Sri Lanka held their 23rd meeting of the Joint Commission on 25 January 2021, via video conference. This was the first Joint Commission under the new leadership in both the European Union and Sri Lanka.
The Joint Commission meeting, held in a cordial and open atmosphere wih the EU and Sri Lanka exchanging views on a wide array of subjects, reaffirming the deep cooperation ties and the willingness to strengthen the relationship between the people of the EU and Sri Lanka further.

Responding to threats from the European Union, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau assured Canadians today that the availability of COVID-19 vaccines is still “very much on track.”
“I spoke to the CEO of Moderna about an hour and a half ago, so the topic of the recent musings by Europe certainly came up, and it was very, very clear that Canadian contracts that have been signed, and the delivery schedule we have laid out, will be respected,” Trudeau told reporters at a news conference in Ottawa.
