In any fire tragedy the nation loses precious lives and valuable assets, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday as he inaugurated a Skill Development Centre (SDC) for Fire Safety Training of DRDO that will provide quality training to fire personnel to prevent such losses. The SDC of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) at Pilkhuwa in Uttar Pradesh is first of its kind in India. It has been created by adopting state-of-the-art technology and setting up of simulation systems for validation of fire at realistic scale in order to meet the challenges and enhance the skills of Defence Fire Service Personnel and combatants from the armed forces, the DRDO said.

New Delhi: In a major boost for the Indian armed forces, four HELINA anti-tank missiles were successfully launched from Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv helicopter in Rajasthan sector on Friday. As per the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), four missions were carried out for evaluating missile capabilities in minimum and maximum range of 7 kms.
The final mission was carried out with warhead missile against a derelict tank. All the mission objectives were met, the DRDO officials said. The HELINA anti-tank missiles were test-fired during the joint user trials by the Indian Army and Indian Air Force (IAF).

DRDO trials Anti-Tank Guided Missiles using the ALH
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully carried out joint user trials of indigenously developed Helina and Dhruvastra Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGM) from the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) in the desert.
Helina is the Army variant and Dhruvastra is the Air Force variant of the ALH.
