Senator Tommy Tuberville visits Redstone Arsenal Senator Tuberville visits the Redstone Arsenal By Nolan Crane | March 31, 2021 at 4:22 PM CDT - Updated March 31 at 5:52 PM HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Senator Tommy Tuberville is in Madison County this week. He’s visiting to get familiar with Huntsville’s Space and Defense Missions, as leaders in Washington D.C. prepare their budget. Senator Tuberville is a member of the Armed Services Committee, and he wants to see what leaders at the Arsenal need. “We spent four hours talking about almost every part of the space program and their plans. They have a great plan, not just going to the moon, but also to Mars. Hopefully in my lifetime we get to do that, but it’s going to have to be a lot of work between now and then. It takes money, it takes organization, and of course the people here, for years have been on top of everything,” said Tuberville.

Fiordland leader recognised for blending tourism and conservation

Working in outdoor tourism amongst amazing scenery created a natural outlook towards conservation, Norris said. Operating in places like Fiordland National Park and Rakiura/Stewart Island, operators have a role in telling conservation stories, he said. He was the driver behind Conservation Expeditions to Dusky Sound and Cooper Island, in conjunction with the Department of Conservation. Passengers would attend conservation lectures and carry out volunteer work on the islands, with a portion of tickets sales going to the Cooper Island Restoration project, raising almost $60,000 in 2019. He has overseen Real Journeys providing free transport to DOC staff to support work in southern Fiordland.
