TODAY December 31, 2020 The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), said the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has killer scores terrorists belonging to the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and destroyed their hideouts at 1Km North of Tumbun Gini on the fringes of Lake Chad in Borno State. Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche, who made this known in a statement, said “In continuation of its sustained onslaught against insurgents operating in the North East of the Country, the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has neutralized several Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements and destroyed their hideouts at 1Km North of Tumbun Gini on the fringes of Lake Chad in Borno State.

  The Coordinator of the Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche has said that terrorism and insurgency are resilient all over the world. He stated this on Thursday during a special end-of-the-year programme which aired on Channels Television. “It is rather unfortunate that all over the world, insurgency, and terrorism are very resilient. It is a similar thing that we are having,” he said. “For us, the encouragement is that from having controlled territories, now they don’t have controlled territories on the ground where they have authorities and set up an administration.” While admitting that the insurgency war in Nigeria has been ongoing for over a decade, the defence spokesman said the military has been able to contain the terrorists to what he described as skirmishes.

2,403 Criminals Killed, 864 Kidnapped Victims Rescued Since March – Military

Channels Television     No fewer than two thousand criminals have been killed by troops between March and December across various parts of the country, the military has said. The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche, disclosed this on Thursday while addressing a press conference in Abuja. He explained that a total of 2,403 criminals were neutralised in a bid to contain the excesses of insurgents, kidnappers and others whose activities threaten the peace and security of Nigeria. General Enenche added that troops rescued a total of 864 kidnapped victims across the country and arrested 1,910 criminals with a large cache of arms, ammunition and equipment recovered during the period.
