Improvements scheduled to get under way on Monday, May 24 include shoulder widening, guardrail updates, and new roadway edge rumble strips. The 6.9-mile long project is from just north of Route 612 (New Hope and Crimora Road) to Route 861 (Teter Road) in between Crimora and Grottoes.

The Ohio Department of Transportation unveiled the plan in a public meeting held virtually May 6. The plan calls for a traffic signal and left-turn lane from northbound Route 315 at the intersection. A design shared last fall called for a roundabout that would have required the removal of a historical barn near the southwest corner of the intersection. “It would appear ODOT listened to the various opinions and information and revisited the project design,” Mark Rush, who lives on Route 315 just south of the intersection, told ThisWeek. “I’m pleased it didn’t fall on deaf ears.”

Kaczala         Oregon City Council at a meeting on Monday agreed to pay DGL Consulting Engineers, Maumee, additional funds not to exceed $50,000 for professional engineer services for the Navarre Avenue and Coy Road Safety Improvement project.         “The bulk of the design changes are needed to assist the city with negotiating right of way acquisition with property owners at the northeast and southwest corners of that intersection,” said Public Service Director Paul Roman.         The city has proposed to Barney’s BP gas station on Navarre at Coy to enclose a ditch that splits the property as part of the project, said Roman. It would be offered in lieu of right of way purchases.

Roundabout opens in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) Carbondale now has a traffic roundabout.  City leaders opened the roundabout to the public Thursday morning, about 40 days ahead of schedule. 90% of the project was paid for by the federal Highway Safety Improvement Program. The roundabout was constructed by Samron Midwest Contracting.
