Underprivileged segments yearn for happiness during Eid

KARACHI: Eidul Fitr, which is supposed to be a festival of happiness, was not an occasion of revelry for many people of the city as some even struggled to find food during the lockdown while for others, the strict lockdown orders marred their plans of merrymaking. In the meantime, some families who were displaced during the anti-encroachment drive spent the festival in protest outside the club.
At around 2:30pm on Saturday, the third day of Eid-ul-Fitr, a Christian boy in his 20s knocked at the door of his Muslim neighbours, a family of four comprising an elderly woman, her son, his wife and their six-month-old baby. Clad in an oversized pale pink shirt and grey bell bottom dress pants over a pair of worn out black trainers, he removed the curtain on the door to become visible to his neighbours and they understood by just looking at him that he was there to ask for roti.

LAHORE: Police launched a search operation at Harpalke village after an armed clash broke out between police and some residents of Heir village on a road construction dispute with the Defence Housing Authority on Friday.
Police arrested more than 15 protesters after they allegedly shot at and injured a policeman and damaged the official vehicle. Two other policemen suffered injuries during the scuffle with the villagers.

There were reports that the incident occurred when a road leading to the village was being constructed by the DHA following the Phase IX project. The villagers feared that the DHA was going to encroach upon the road which was on land owned by Harpalke residents.
Actress Hira Mani robbed outside her house

Pakistani television star Hira Mani was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight outside her house in Defence Housing Authority on Sunday.
CCTV footage of the robbery shared by the actress on her Instagram showed the actress along with two children parking her car in the driveway when two armed motorcyclists approached her and robbed her of her expensive items.
Upon receiving information, police reached her residence and recorded the statement of her guard. Police said the CCTV footage had been obtained and they were trying to trace the suspects with its help. Further investigations are under way.
