SHC irked by DHA, CBC reply to contempt plea against them
July 27, 2021
The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday directed the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) and the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) to submit complete details with regard to the assignment of work relating to storm water drainage in the areas under their jurisdictions.
The direction came on a contempt-of-court application filed by residents of DHA against the chief executive officer of the CBC, the chief engineer and others for not complying with the court’s orders with regard to the submission of details relating to storm water drainage.
The residents of DHA and Clifton had filed a petition with regard to the effective infrastructure for a sewerage and drainage system, and compensation for the lives lost and the damages to properties suffered by the citizens of Karachi during last year’s monsoon rainfall.

Food delivery boy wounded as security guard opens fire
July 25, 2021
A food delivery boy was wounded in a firing incident in Defence Housing Authorityâs Khayaban-e-Badar on Saturday.
According to the Darakshan police, the incident took place outside the apartment of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leader and member of the Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan. The boy was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medical treatment where the police recorded his statement.
The victim, Nadeem Ata, told police that he had arrived to deliver food at Hassanâs house where his security guard opened fire on him.
âWhen I reached the given location, I called the number provided to me many times but I did not get any response. Then I rang the doorbell and a man came out and asked me to hand over the parcel to him,â the injured food delivery boy claimed. âThe guard opened fire on me when I tried to ring the doorbell again.â
They termed it a case of killing in the name of so-called honour.
Aziz Bhatti SHO Adeel Afzal said that a murder case was registered on behalf of the state against the family of 15-year-old Samina Khan and an uncle of the victim was taken into custody since he owned the licensed pistol with which she was shot.
On Friday, the girl was found shot dead at her home in Block 6 and her family had claimed that she committed suicide by shooting herself.
The area SHO said that the family had taken her initially to the Liaquat National Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Later, the body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfil legal formalities.
Pakistani Army has always desired that judiciary toe its line, says analyst ANI | Updated: Jul 25, 2021 08:26 IST
Islamabad [Pakistan], July 25 (ANI): Pakistan Army has held power over the state and it has always tried that the judiciary too should toe its line.
Bilal Balouch, writing in Eat News, a Taiwanese digital media portal said that in order to dilute the chastity of the judiciary, the Pakistan Army is known to position its own men by influencing the appointment of judges to various higher courts.
The judges who conform to the Army s thought process keep politicians on a tight leash through their judgements with scathing remarks on the Government s performance thus indirectly enabling the Army to have a stronghold over the political affairs of the country.
