The Sindh High Court issued on Friday an interim stay order against the demolition of farm houses owned by opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh in a contempt plea relating to the matter. The court also issued contempt of court notices to the Sindh chief secretary and other parties.
At the hearing, counsel for the petitioner, advocate Shamsul Islam, contended that the demolition of the properties by the Sindh government was an act of revenge and that the provincial had wrongly interpreted the Supreme Court s order on the matter.

KARACHI: A first-year college student was abducted and later gang-raped in Karachi, police said on Friday, adding that the main suspect along with three accomplices have been arrested.
According to the first information report (FIR) filed with Malir Police, the victim is a resident of the Gulshan-e-Hadeed area and the complaint was filed by her father.
Man injured for resisting mugging bid

A man was shot and injured on Khayaban-e-Shaheed in Defence Housing Authority on Wednesday. Rescuers transported the man to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medical treatment where he was identified as 27-year-old Khairullah, son of Mir Ahmed. Police said the incident took place when the citizen put up resistance during a mugging bid.
