Allahabad University Vice-Chancellor said the azaan was causing losses in her working hours. Prayagraj: A two-week-old letter by the Vice-Chancellor of the prestigious Allahabad University to the Prayagraj district magistrate, complaining about noise from a mosque in the locality she resides in, has landed her in controversy with a prominent Muslim cleric asking for mutual respect of religious sentiments . The letter, titled Noise Pollution in the Civil Lines, Prayagraj was written by Vice-Chancellor Sangita Shrivastava on March 3 to Bhanu Chandra Goswami , the topmost government official in the district. It said the daily 5.30 am call to prayers, azaan, from the nearby mosque using a mic disturbs her sleep and that she is unable to sleep after that.

Prayagraj: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) took cognizance of news reports of the death of a three-year old girl at the gate of a private hospital in Prayagraj and asked the district magistrate Bhanu Chandra Goswami on Saturday to initiate an inquiry into allegations of medical negligence and submit report within 24 hours. On Friday, the deceased girl’s father Mukesh Mishra, a resident of Karhenda village of Prayagraj’s Kareli area, had alleged that he had admitted his daughter to the private hospital near Jhalwa 20 days ago. The hospital falls under the jurisdiction of Kaushambi’s Pipri police station.

As per reports, the surgeons did not give stitches to the now-deceased girl after her family failed to settle the hospital bill.
