GAIL puts West Bengal on India s gas-map, hurl in greener, cheaper fuel for homes, automobiles

The 348-kilometer pipeline from Dobhi in Bihar to Durgapur in West Bengal is part of the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga project to take environment-friendly natural gas to India s eastern parts which hereto was left untouched by the benefits of gas-based economy.
Besides being cheaper, piped natural gas is convenient as it ends the hassle of booking a LPG refill every month.

GAIL (India) Ltd, the nation s biggest gas utility, has put West Bengal on the gas map of India after it completed laying a Rs 2,433-crore pipeline that will bring to the state cooking fuel that is cheaper than LPG and CNG that costs less than petrol and diesel, and fuel to produce urea for all its requirement.

New Delhi: Petrol and diesel prices were both hiked by 35 paise per litre on Thursday after rates were kept unchanged for the seven straight days.
Petrol price in Delhi is at Rs 86.65 per litre, and diesel is at Rs 76.83 per litre while in Mumbai, petrol prices are at Rs 92.86 per litre and diesel prices are at Rs 83.30 per litre.
Fuel prices hit new record highs in the National Capital last Wednesday (January 28) after oil marketing hiked rates further. State-owned oil marketing companies hiked petrol prices in Delhi by 25 paise to 86.30 per litre from Rs 86.05 per litre while diesel prices too were hiked by 25 paise to Rs 76.48 per litre from Rs 76.23 per litre. In Mumbai, diesel prices were hiked to Rs 92.86 per litre, thus witnessing new record high and petrol prices stood at Rs 83.30 per litre on Wednesday.

Thrissur (Kerala) [India], February 4 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party National President Jagat Prakash Nadda on Thursday said that special attention and focus have been given to Kerala under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While addressing a public rally at Thrissur, BJP Chief said that Rs 3,000 crore has been spent on a 450 kilometre-long natural gas pipeline from Kerala s Kochi to Mangaluru. Under the NDA government led by PM Modi, special attention and focus have been given to Kerala. Rs 3,000 crore have been spent on a 450-km long natural gas pipeline from Kochi to Mangaluru under the One Nation, One Grid program, Nadda said.

LIC employees protest against Centre s disinvestment proposal
Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) employees on Tuesday protested against the government s proposal of disinvestment of the corporation in Coimbatore. During the Union Budget on Monday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the initial public offering of LIC will be brought in through requisite amendments in the session itself.
Talking about the Centre s proposal, a protester told ANI, The government has announced in the budget that the FDI in the insurance sector will be increased from 49 to 74 per cent. Simultaneously the government also declared disinvestment of LIC shares in the Indian stock market. On behalf of the All India Insurance Employees Association, we oppose and condemn the move by the Government of India (GOI). The government proposed to generate 1.75 lakh crores during this year by selling the shares of the public sector. It is against the will of the people.
