Parliament Speaker Mamytov offers condolences over killing of school students in Kazan
AKIPRESS.COM - Parliament Speaker Talant Mamytov offered condolences to Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko and State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin in in connection with tragic death of school students in Kazan. I was deeply saddened to learn about the tragic death of children as a result of shooting at school in Kazan. This is irretrievable loss for family of each killed. On behalf of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan and myself I offer sincere condolences to families and relatives of those who died and wish the soonest recovery to all those injured, Speaker Talant Mamytov said.
President Japarov signs new Constitution of Kyrgyzstan
AKIPRESS.COM - President Sadyr Japarov today has signed a new Constitution of Kyrgyzstan adopted through referendum on April 11.
The ceremony of signing of the Constitution is held in Ala Archa State Residence.
The ceremony is attended by members of the Parliament, judges, government members, public figures.
1,322,124 people have voted in the constitutional referendum. The voter turnout has made 36.66%.
1,048,660 voted for a new Constitution or 79.3%.
181,370 voted or 13.72% against it.
The Council of Europe Venice Commission and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR/OSCE) said in a Joint Legal Opinion on the draft of new Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic that some provisions threaten the necessary balance of power and the protection of individual freedoms, essential to democracy and rule of law.
Security Council convened in Bishkek
AKIPRESS.COM - President Sadyr Japarov today convened the Security Council in restricted attendance, the president s press service said.
The Security Council discussed the measures of reduction of tension and de-escalation of situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, preservation of territorial integrity of the country, ensuring security of population of border areas.
President Japarov said all line government agencies should undertake necessary actions to regulate the situation peacefully.
