She said several questions she had raised in the current Parliamentary session concerning government expenditure had seen “unsatisfactory” replies by ministers, adding that this defeats the function of Parliament.
“If MPs were given the space to ask questions and ministers chose not to answer, the Speaker should have summoned them and determined whether their answers were satisfactory.

TOKYO (Reuters): Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has drawn criticism for joining end of year social gatherings after imploring residents to avoid such parties as the country sees record numbers of coronavirus cases.
Despite his own public warnings against large group meals, Suga went ahead with a series of get-togethers this week, stirring up criticism from politicians and social media users, including his party s coalition partner.
Yasutoshi Nishimura, the country s economy minister in charge of coronavirus policies, defended Suga s gatherings, telling Parliament on Wednesday (Dec 16) there was no enforced rule about group meals.

He said the Covid-19 pandemic had prevented nearly one million students from progressing in their education, especially pre-school and Year One and Two pupils.
Referring to these schoolchildren as the “lost generation”, Maszlee said they are struggling with basic skills such as reading, writing, and speaking.
“The lack of normal teaching and learning for almost a year has stunted this education process.
“(Many) of them still can’t read, write or count. These are skills that they should have at their age, ” he told a press conference in Parliament on Wednesday (Dec 16).
Maszlee said the proposed council, if set up, should comprise stakeholders such as representatives from education NGOs and MPs with experience in the education sector from both sides of the political divide.
