ISLAMABAD:
The opposition on Monday came down hard on the federal government after the prime minister preferred to address the nation on the ongoing protests via television rather than addressing the parliament and the interior minister excused himself from issuing a policy statement on the crisis.
National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser on Friday instructed Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid to issue a policy statement on the country-wide protests staged by the outlawed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) over the arrest of its leader Saad Hussain Rizvi.

ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan told the National Assembly on Friday that expulsion of the French ambassador from Pakistan as agreed with the Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) was conditioned with approval of parliament.
“While reaching an agreement with the TLP, we told them your (TLP) demand will be presented before parliament and whatever decision is taken will be implemented,” Ali Muhammad Khan said.
He said that negotiations were in progress with the protesters and they were told that the government had moved not even an inch back from the agreement. “But as the negotiations were in progress, the TLP leaders suddenly announced a protest,” he said.

ISLAMABAD:
Opposition on Friday called for launching a probe into the emergence of the TLP – a religious party that the federal government proscribed on Wednesday amid violent protests – as a PML-N lawmaker demanded that the government must break ties with France over blasphemy issue.
When the National Assembly resumed its session, PML-N’s Riaz Pirzada took the floor and demanded that the government must explain as to who helped make the TLP, the Sipah-e-Sahaba, a sectarian outfit, and the TTP, an ultra-orthodox militant group.
